First lecture of the series is a presentation of Two Small Pieces of Glass. An NSF  sponsored, made for planetarium video in celebration of the International Year of Astronomy 2009 honoring the 400 year anniversary of the first astronomical telescope observations made by Galileo. Dr. Iadevaia will display several telescopes and their components and answer questions following the presentation.

Forth lecture of the series...WHAT WAS THE MIRACLE OF THE SUN? Dr. Iadevaia will speak on the the most unusual, the most witnessed event of modern times that occurred at Fatima, Portugal in October 1917. Upwards of 70,000 people witnessed the Sun doing some pretty remarkable things! Was it a miracle or was it something else? This lecture is sure to stir up some controversy! 


Archaeoastronomy: Did ancient cultures align buildings to the stars?

Fifth lecture of the series...ARCHAEOASTRONOMY: DID ANCIENT CULTURES ALIGN BUILDING TO THE STARS? Follow Dr. Iadevaia as he traveled to some of the America's most famous astronomically significant sites...Chaco Canyon, New Mexico...Monte Alban, Oaxaca...Machu Picchu, Peru...to determine if the builders used the stars to layout those marvelous ancient sites and for what purpose!
Seeing the Sun: What can we see in a small telescope and the newest space based observatory?

Sixth lecture of the series...What can we see when we look at the Sun using a small Earth based telescope and ultimately using the newest space telescope? Dr Iadevaia will present an interesting lecture about what we can see and how we can understand what we are seeing. Seating is limited.
